Bob Galen awarded the 2017 Joint Community Volunteer Service Award - 12/09/2017

Surrounded by his fellow Kiwanis members, parents, sister & brother and a room of
hundreds who cheered him on, Bob Galan was selected as one of 8 recipients to receive the Joint Community Volunteer Service Award for 2017.  It was the 35th Annual Awards luncheon and Bob joins fellow Kiwanians in this honor.

Kiwanis Christmas Tree Lot Coming Back to Los Altos

 

 

 

 

Kiwanians Karen Smith, left, and Martha McClatchie unload holiday trees at the Kiwanis Tree Lot in Los Altos Tuesday morning. The club ordered 1,600 Noble and Nordmann fir trees from a grower in Oregon, and will be selling them from Friday until approximately Dec. 17(or when supply is exhausted) in the Lucky's supermarket parking lot on Grant Road. Smiles all around at the Kiwanis Luncheon today. Kiwanis Los Altos was Honored to have Judy Miner, Chancellor of Foothill & DeAnza CColleges as guest speaker presenting on National, State and local education hot topics in the areas of Community Colleges, DACA and the awesome idea of the Silicon Valley promise to education. Thank you Judy! Also joining our lunch meeting today were Pat Emslie, Kiwanis Division 34 Lieutenant Governor (and the esteemed members of the Palo Alto Club), Paul Nyburg from the Los Altos Town Crier (with fellow reporter Elizabeth!), MVHS career counselor, Jaimie Tabuchi and photo credit goes to Ron Labetich, welcome visiting Rotarian.

BMAB-FEI-E3-nonstop Judy Crates! - 09/11/2017

Judy Crates may have retired from Principal at Castro School, but boy, is she non stop!  Judy spoke with us last week about her current endevours with Bring Me A Book Foundation, Family Engagement Institute's Strech to Kindergarten program and the Los Altos Community Foundations E3 Philanthropy.  She even was kind enough to bring a book for Martha, to donate to a local school!  Thank you Judy for sharing all of your passions and teaching us all One Thing, and more.

Tour de Cure - 06/11/2017

Our Kiwanis Club volunteers Peter Bergsman, Mike Abrams, Julie McPherson, Derek Lubich, Bob Galen and Doris Padilla this weekend at a rest stop for American Diabetes Associations  Tour de Cure bike ride fundraiser.  Providing refreshments and food to cyclists needing a rest after a long ride to Seale Park in Palo Alto.
